E4000 study desks for the Roberto Rocca Innovation Building

LAMM integrated systems were chosen for the Humanitas University lecture rooms with new architecture, designed by Filippo Taidelli Architetto

For the Roberto Rocca Innovation Building, designed by Filippo Taidelli Architetto for Humanitas University, LAMM provided study desks for 359 seats, distributed between two large lecture rooms.

The building, recently inaugurated in Pieve Emanuele (MI) and already winner of important awards, including the Wood Architecture Prize by Klimahouse, sets an example for the best responses to climate challenges, as well as for the environmental sustainability solutions used (the building is Leed Gold certified). An architecture that the designer himself defines as a “knowledge hangar”, i.e. an industrial pavilion with large glulam spans that is so flexible that it can easily absorb changes in layout.

For the study desks, the choice fell on the essentiality and practicality of the E4000 model designed by Lucci e Orlandini. Adaptable to any type of space, the integrated and continuous seat and table system is arranged in the Humanitas University lecture rooms side by side and in straight rows. Equipped with a folding writing surface with increased depth (5 cm more than the standard 30 cm), the study desks are equipped with electrical power supply ducts and electrical sockets. The seats, backrests and writing table are made of Abet 657 HPL laminate with holz finish; the uprights are painted in semi-matt black. The same characteristics for the E4000 systems landed in Catania, where LAMM was involved in the fitting out of three classrooms with a total of 90 seats.
