Award-winning Genya for new complex in Segreen Business Park

The compact and minimalist armchair furnishes the auditorium of the new business centre created from the former Microsoft building in Segrate (MI), designed by Studio Elementare

The Genya armchair, designed by Dante Bonuccelli, furnishes the multi-coloured auditorium of the new building complex following the LEED WELL standards, the certification that attests to the beneficial effects of buildings on the well-being of the people who live in them or use them. More than 30,000 square metres of new office space in the Segreen Business Park in Segrate, on the outskirts of Milan. A multi-tenant complex – designed by Studio Elementare – resulting from a development project realised by Europa Risorse Sgr on behalf of the Er Office Fund 3, underwritten by PineBridge Benson Elliot.

The new hub, consisting of several connected buildings and small volumes that seek to create a city effect, connects two sections of the existing business centre, occupying the spaces that once belonged to Microsoft. The building owned by the giant of the Silicon Valley was largely demolished to make way for new offices. And it is here, in the large 95-seat auditorium, that Genya, the iconic LAMM armchair that conceals every component within it, enters the scene, having been awarded the Good Design Award, the Best of NeoCon, and last but not least, an honourable mention at the XXII edition of the ADI Compasso d’Oro.

A total of 95 chairs were supplied and installed by LAMM, arranged in straight rows on steps with a spacing of 58 cm. For the business park, a version entirely upholstered in dark green leatherette was chosen. Innovation and attention to detail: no support is visible, the seat and armrests open with a synchronised (patented) soft-closing movement, and each armchair is equipped with elements for row identification and seat numbering.

L213 armchairs “dress up” the auditorium with an industrial soul of the Banca Popolare di Sondrio

The seats are confirmed for their versatility and elegance, making them suitable for any architectural environment

In the former industrial building in Berbenno di Valtellina (SO), converted into the multi-service business centre of the Banca Popolare di Sondrio, the versatile L213 armchairs were chosen to create the large 554-seat auditorium. The seats, with their linearity and essential design, are arranged in perfect harmony with the industrial soul of this impressive hall. The L213s prove to be suitable for “dressing up” any architectural environment. They have graced the halls of business centres of major companies, in Italy and abroad; as well as hyper-technological auditoriums, such as the prestigious Apple iOS Developer Academy at the Federico II University in Naples and the modern lecture hall of the Milanese Hospital IRCCS Ospedale Galeazzi Sant’Ambrogio.

On the other hand, the atmosphere of places of production is nothing new to L213, which has already established a perfect symbiosis with a fine example of industrial archaeology by furnishing the auditorium of the Halles aux Sucres in Dunkirk, France, an imposing 19th-century port building created for storing sugar.

At the headquarters of the Banca Popolare di Sondrio, the choice fell on the version with straight, thicker sides (the thickness is 9 cm). To allow optimal viewing by users, the seats are arranged – on the sloping floor – in a staggered manner. In order to ensure, with staggered seating, uniformity of passage in the 120 cm aisles, auxiliary sides were introduced: two of them, one opening and the other closing, for half of the ten-seat rows of the central sector and one per row, alternating between opening and closing, for the nine-seat rows of the side sectors. There are a total of 60 auxiliary sides, all in perfect harmony with the seats: in fact, they are built with the same characteristics and materials.

A dark red 100% polyester FR Trevira CS fabric was used to upholster the armchairs, which were arranged with 60 cm of spacing. Customisation and attention to detail distinguish the set-up: the seats are equipped with seat and row numbering plates, while the outer sides facing the aisles are fitted with recessed step marker lighting with LED sources. The visible metal parts are all painted silver.
